So, months of studying has finally paid off and you are finally into your dream business school. At MAPS, the focus is always on the student, how can he extract the maximum value after graduating. Now that you are where you have always wanted to be, its time that you should know how to make the most of your business school experience. So, listed below are a few tips that will help you to get the most out of a B School:
· Have something in your life that you are passionate about beyond getting an MBA degree – This basically means joining plenty of different clubs and getting involved in extracurricular activities. Business Organizations these days really want to know what kind of a person you are outside of your business credentials. Having participated in sports or other athletic activities are all positives in proving yourself as a well rounded person. It shows your ability to work in a team setting towards a common goal.
· Don’t do things simply because everyone else is doing them – Keep this is mind specially at the time of recruiting. Just don’t go for investment banking simply because everyone else is going and because it pays very well. Go for it only if you like finance. Or else go for something that you truly enjoy.
· Try and apply your learning whenever you can – Keep thinking how you are going to apply whatever you are learning to the dream job that you are about to get. This will even help you to understand your coursework better. Practical application of the theories that you are learning is all what you have to do later in your life. So, it’ll definitely be better if you start doing so (while reading case studies, in classrooms, or while discussing with your team mates) right from the time you are learning about those theories.
· Finally remember to have fun – It takes plenty of hard work to get into a business school, so have as much fun as possible. Ensure that you make loads of friends and keep in touch with them. You never know, those connections might just come in use later.
